Badminton

Badminton Information

1) Coaches - Ken Terpstra is our head coach for badminton, and I (Ryan Miller) will be assisting him.
2)  Fees  & Forms- A fee of $30 will be charged to your account for your child to play badminton on the team. This fee covers their personalized Royals' badminton shirt and their entrance into Divisionals.        

- If your child qualifies for and participates in Zones, an additional fee of approx. $8 will be added to your account.  **Please fill out the medical & permission forms that you receive by email ("field trip forms"). 

3) Practices - Gr. 7-9 on Wednesdays - 3:30 - 5:00pm   **Gr. 9s will join the Gr. 10-12s on Tuesday, April 9 for practice                     

Gr. 10 - 12 on Tuesdays and Thursdays - 3:30 - 5:00pm
4) Competitions -    

a) Exhibition - Wednesday, April 10 - 3:30 - 5:00pm - Gr. 9 -12 will go to Olds High to join their practice time for some informal exhibition games with their players.                       

- Thursday, April 11 - 3:30 - 5:00pm -  Carstairs' Gr. 10 players have been invited to come join our practice time to play some informal exhibition matches with us. (This will only be for grades 10-12 because we have limited space)  If they can't come, we'll have a gr. 10 - 12 practice.
b) Lethbridge Tournament (Gr. 10-12) - Saturday, April 13 beginning at 8:30am - Ken Terpstra has talked to the Gr. 10 - 12s and registered those who wanted to join this tournament. A separate email is being sent to those of you who have a son or daughter registered for this tournament. 
c) Divisionals - Tuesday, April 23, at Olds High, beginning at 4pm. This competition will determine who qualifies for Zones from our Division. Everyone on the team should plan to participate in this competition. The top two teams/players in each category will qualify for Zones. 
d) Zones - (For those who qualify) - Senior (Under 19 before Sept. 1 - at Bert Church in Airdrie on Friday, April 26                                                       

- Intermediate (Under 17 before Sept. 1) - At WH Croxford in Airdrie on Saturday, April 27                                                       

-  Junior (Under 16 before Sept. 1) at George McDougall in Airdrie on Saturday, April 27                        - Gr. 9 - at Edison School in Okotoks on Wednesday, May 8.
e) Gr. 10 -12 Provincials (for those who qualify)  - In Edmonton on Friday & Saturday,  May 3 - 4.
